Intro
Welcome to the experiment that is This Blog In Baseball. I am your typical baseball fan Stewart. Each morning, I hope to provide the story of the day in the world of MLB. I realize that I am not breaking any ground in the world of journalism or blogging, I thought it might be useful down the line to keep this information organized throughout the season.
When I signed up for my openserving site, the admin made a suggestion to me that I thought was pretty interesting. At the bottom of each article, I am going to present you with the "Chump and the Champ". It will have two baseball players (that may or may not be relevant to the article) that you are encouraged to vote for in the main site's Hall of Fame.
Lidge Out / Wheeler In
In a move that could have realistically occured anytime last season, Houston Astros closer Brad Lidge was demoted in favor of Dan Wheeler. So is the life of a nasty closer. One season you are mowing down hitters on road to a sub-2.00 ERA with 40+ saves, the next you are getting yanked from the mound mid-save. Aside from the freak that is Mariano Rivera, closers never seem to put up more than 4 or 5 dominant seasons. Whether it be steroids (Gagne), overuse (Thigpen), plain idiocy (Rocker), or in Lidge's case - confidence issues, closers careers are always a fun rollercoaster.
