In 2002, Dale Prentiss, a cop as well as an umpire, was shot while on duty as a sergeant in the Shirley, Mass., Police Department. Prentiss' doctors told him he could no longer be a cop as a result of the shooting, but he hoped to continue umpiring. Now, he's an umpire at the Little League World Series.
