A’s victorious but lose Duchscherer

The A’s beat the Twins, 3-2, on Monday night, but lost starter Justin Duchscherer to right hip pain in the third inning. The A’s got a quick start when Mark Ellis hit the game’s first pitch for a homer. Kurt Suzuki added a two-run single.

Sheffield cracks top 25 on homer list

Gary Sheffield’s two-run homer on Monday night against the Rangers wasn’t simply a big shot on the scoreboard. With his 493rd career home run, he moved into a tie with good friend Fred McGriff and Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig on the all-time Major League list.
